Eider

3 Eider off Dunany Point this afternoon. A colour ringed Great Black backed Gull at Clogher Head. Almost certainly ringed by Chris Honan on Irelands eye. Strangley enough Chris Honan floated by on a canoe not 50 yards away. Whats the chances of that?

Carrion Crow hybrid

A Carrion Crow hybrid was at Seabank today, 15 January. It was very mobile and moving between the mud, the river and the beach.

Diver reported at Soldiers Point.

A Black Throated Diver was reported at the weekend on the Navy Bank/Soldiers Pt. area, I had a quick look today  and one diver was  seen at great distance (b.t.d. or r.t.d.) but not relocated.
Update today wed. 11 jan. diver seen yesterday at Navy bank is a Red Throated diver......
The Bewick swan was seen again in the fields at the north end of Cruistown with no sign of the Velvet Scoter at Salterstown.A high count of c.1400 Brent and one Canada goose at Lurgangreen also on Sunday.

Canada Goose

The Canada Goose was on show today at Lurgangreen fields feeding with 265 Brent Geese. No sign of the Barnace Goose or the Dark bellied Brent. They might have been with the 60 or so Brent that were missing.

The grey geese arrived out on the mud at just before 3.30pm. Too far out to pick out anything unusual.
